Dinning

So I took a few weeks off from my projects. It's been crazy busy. From having family and friends down almost every week, to birthdays, and our oldest starting school. But this weekend we got to go thrifting, and we found this awesome table. It wasn't what I originally planned to go with, but after seeing the copper, I couldn't resist. I'm a sucker for all things copper. We added some dry brushing to give it more character, and tied it in with the rest of our home.

We picked up these chairs at ikea for our first ikea hack. We went with some plain, unpainted chairs making it easier to work on. I will share our DIY project later this week.

Also some little extras we picked up on our trip where these tea lights. With fall around the corner, we thought we would get a jump start on our fall look. The step stool was also a must for the little ones.

First day

After a crazy week with the family, which felt like non stop activities, we are glad to be returning to our normal life. Although we have one big change, Baby Kiki is off to school. It was her first day of Kindergarten. And there may have been some tears shed. As a mom your happy to see them grow, but the reality is also sad. I feel like any day I will be writing a post about how my baby just graduated college. But for now, trying to enjoy every moment with my little.

Q&A
What do you want to be when u grow up?
A doctor. What kind? An animal one. I though she would have said Anthropologist, since she's obsessed with Dino's.
What's your favorite color?
Yellow . . . Pink . Wait no blue. So basically, it depends on her mood.
What's your favorite food? Sticky chicken, which is general Tso Chicken.
What's your favorite animal? Dogs

Weekend wrap up

So it's been nothing but sunshine and fun. Another weekend with guest from up north. My family came down to visit for the week, and The girls are loving Mamina and Papito time. My brother an his wife also came down, so we are hosting a full house. We of course hit the pool, that's always a must in our book. As you can tell Lilly is photogenic, while Kiki would much rather hang back.

We also met with my husbands sister who is also in town for the week. The cousins had a blast... These kids get all types of silly. We ate at our favorite taco joint, Tijuana Flats. If your ever in Florida, it's a go to. We will definitely be missing all this family time once everyone leaves.

Beauty box

So my new monthly subscription addiction is Target. That's right, Target has monthly subscriptions, I finally had a chance to try it out. Their boxes sell out so fast and aren't reoccurring, like many of the other ones.  That's a little bit of a downer. But this months box did not disappoint. With two full size items, valuing more then the box itself it's a steal. Sadly, this months already sold out.

The goodies in this box:

Cover girl super sizer mascara. This item was full sized. I've used this mascara before, so I was already in love.
Fekkal pre-soleil hair mist. I'd never heard of sun proctection for hair. It's like sunscreen for your hair while adding a boost of shine. It works best with damp hair.
Hair food moisturizing mask. This item was also full size. I actually had a chance to try this a few nights ago. Breaking away from my coconut oil routine, I really like the scent of apricots. It's  fast working with damp hair. You apply from root to tip, and leave it in for 5-10 mins.
Olay active botanicals moisturizing toner. I've never used it before. I know that's crazy an I really should.  This product is to remove excess dirt and oil without drying out your skin.
Olay active botanical day lotion. So after you apply toner, you will want to apply this.  I really like the Olay lotion.  It's so light weight, it feels like you have nothing on.
Crest 3 D whitestrips 1 hr express. And last but not least, who doesn't want a gorgeous bright smile? After just one hour you can remove years of stains.

As a bonus they add a coupon for your beauty purchase.

You put the lime in the . . .

COCONUT. That's right ladies, today I'm talking about my love of coconut oil. I few years back a friend mentioned she was using it on her skin and saw great improvement, to her ezsame. I started looking it up, and saw a million and one uses for it.  But the one that got me was the hair mask. I'm obsessed with flat ironing my hair, but it tends to get dry an dull. So a ran to the grocery store. At first, I wasn't sure I would see results right away, and I made a bit of a mess by over doing the amount of oil I needed, but after one use I saw the difference. My hair was shiny not greasy, it looked so much healthier.
Before treatment

I used this on my girls. Their hairs get dull an damaged from the pool and beach. So once a week I apply 3 table spoons of coconut oil. You can pop it in the microwave to get it to liquid form(I live in FL so this isent necessary). I part hair in  sections and massage coconut oil in. Once it's applied to all sections, I pull hair up. Wait an hour wash it out, and BOOM Gorgeous locks yes its that fast. So if your not already a coconut oil lover, I suggest you try this, and its all natural, the planet will thank you. So how are you ladies using coconut oil?

Golden

Another DIY project completed. I've been a busy girl trying to get my apartment furnished one DIY project at a time. This one is another piece we came across, and all though it was missing two drawers, I knew I could make it work. Originally we thought about painting it white to go in the girls room, but in the end, gold won. I wanted something over the top and unique, but still girly. I will admit, this was not the easiest project. Metallic paint is tricky. When you pop the paint open u see multi-colors, like the ugliest green an gray. I thought it was messed up, but  turns out that's just how it looks till u apply it. If you plan on going with a bold paint like this, I suggest priming. Guess what we didn't do...? Yup, prime. After three coats and a lengthy wait for the paint to dry, I loved it. The color was just what I had hoped. I used Devine Colors which you can get at target.

I'm thinking of all the places you will go as a theme. With pretty map prints. Light blue an maybe coral colors, but then again I'm liking a woodland theme. You'll just have to wait and see.

Buffet table

This weekend, I finally finished up my buffet table. We found this gem for free, and after some much needed sanding, we got to work on it. I couldn't believer any one would toss this.  It has such gorgeous details. I went with a dual color to give it more character. Painted it white, and gave the details a bit of a wax finish to highlight the details. Im thinking of getting a record player and some pretty bottles to bring this look all together.

I also got started on a little gold project.  It is proving to be more difficult than expected, but it's coming along.  I am hoping to have that completed by the end of this week.
